How The 2008 Farm Bill
Could Effect Your Operation When Disaster Strikes!
- The 2008 farm bill created five new
disaster programs to assist with losses during the 2008 through
2012 crop years.
- Effective June
2008 USDA disaster assistance
program requires growers to obtain and
maintain crop insurance coverage or NAP coverage (which
ever is applicable) on all crops!
- Growers without crop insurance or NAP
coverage have until September 16, 2008 to obtain the "Buy-In" from
USDA FSA to establish eligibility for disaster assistance on
2008 losses.
- Growers must purchase crop insurance
or NAP coverage to establish eligibility for disaster assistance
during 2009 through 2012.
- Crop Insurance and NAP coverage
are your primary defense against disaster.
